I have found nor source for the mention of bodies and thei disposal. Unlike Hastings, where the burial of the Norman fallen took place, the Saxon forces were left to rot on the battle field, and were still (it has been reported) there some 70 years later, though many saxon families searched and took away the bodies of their family members as they found them.
